2D Stationing
We’ve introduced support for 2D stationing as an enhancement to the laser tracker setup workflow. Previously, all stationing operations were performed in 3D (x, y, z), which is when the layout fit to the scanned control points might result in the system interpreting a tilted plane caused by small z-height errors for scanned points.
With this release, the system will use 2D stationing (x, y only) when specific criteria are met. In 2D mode, the layout is projected onto the XY plane, eliminating minor Z-axis variations and ensuring the resulting layout is perfectly level relative to the ground.
2D stationing activates when the tracker is level enough, within 1° of perfectly vertical, as indicated by the tracker level bubble remaining fully inside the black ring on the tracker head as the tracker scans each control point. If the tracker is not level or 2D stationing is not supported for some other reason, the system will use 3D stationing.
Updated Field-Ready Layout List
The Field Ready Layout List on the iPad has been significantly enhanced to make layout management faster and more intuitive. You can now search for layouts by name or project address, remove layouts from your downloaded list, and refresh the list with a simple swipe-down gesture.
A new layout details panel provides clearer, more informative layout summaries, making it easier to identify the layout you need. From this panel, you can quickly open a layout, download updates, or remove it from your downloaded layouts, streamlining common actions into one convenient place.
Small Improvements + Bug Fixes
iPad
- Floor elevation heatmap 12” bin size Bin sizes for heatmaps generated with the Floor Elevation feature have been set to 1-foot square from the previous 4-inch square. You can produce heatmaps that give a sense for the floor flatness and floor level more quickly.
- Consistent Sorting of Line Styles Line styles in Layer Settings are now sorted consistently, making it easier to locate specific styles in large projects.
- Improved Object Selection Accuracy Touch selection for lines, text, and points is now more precise; tapping outside an object no longer incorrectly selects it.
- Improved Tracker Communication Warnings The app now distinguishes between an operation failure and a true tracker communication timeout, providing more accurate guidance (e.g., when a radio reset is needed).
- The rotate text tool can be used to rotate individual points. To rotate a single point, select the Rotate Text tool and tap directly on the point (not the text annotation) until you see an orange dot appear. Then drag the point to adjust it to the angle you want.
- The notification popup that appears when a control point is cleared now correctly displays the name of the control point. It had previously displayed “%@”.
- Previously, zooming in or out while the “Draw Rectangle Obstacle” tool was active could create duplicate obstacles. Now, zooming does not add any obstacles. Only the ones explicitly drawn by the user are created.
Portal
- The time zone on the production CSV download now reports times in the user’s current time zone rather than UTC.
- Project viewers were previously able to edit layer names in draft layouts. This has been corrected so viewers no longer have any editing capabilities.
- Fixed an issue where the “last active” data for Org Users was not displaying. The Org Users list now correctly shows each user’s most recent activity date.
