Overview
Line styles control how geometry appears when printed, including line weight, pattern, and arrows. On the tablet, operators can change the line style for an entire layer to improve clarity, coordination, or trade-specific readability without modifying the source file.
Symptoms / What You’ll See
- The same printed line styles are difficult to distinguish from other trades.
- A layer prints correctly but needs a different pattern or weight.
- Operators want to adjust line appearance in the field without republishing the file.
Why This Happens
- Different trades often share overlapping geometry that benefits from distinct line styles.
- Default line styles may not provide enough visual contrast in the field.
- Line style changes made on the tablet apply only to printing behavior, not the underlying model.
How to Fix or Prevent
- Open the Layers panel
- On the tablet, tap the Layers icon to open the layer list.
- Select the target layer
- Locate the layer you want to modify.
- Tap the layer name to open its layer settings.
- Change the line style
- Select the Line Style option.
- Choose the desired line style from the available list.
- The selected style will apply to all geometry on that layer.
- Preview the result on the canvas
- Confirm the updated line style appears correctly on the tablet.
- Make sure the new style provides sufficient clarity before printing.
Best Practices
- Use distinct line styles for different trades to reduce confusion on the slab.
- Avoid overly complex patterns that can be difficult to read in poor lighting.
- Confirm line style changes before printing, especially on multi-trade layouts.
- Changing line styles on the tablet will not fix incorrect layer assignments from file preparation.
