Overview
If you see the message "Tracker radio issue detected. Please reset the radio. If the issue persists, please try changing the radio and FieldPrinter to a new channel," this article explains what to do.
Symptoms
- The error message "Tracker radio issue detected" appears on the iPad.
- The FieldPrinter loses communication with the Laser Tracker.
- The issue recurs after attempting a reset.
Cause
This error is a known limitation of the first-generation radio model. The radio can lose its connection to the FieldPrinter and may require a reset or channel change. If the error continues to reappear, it is a sign that the first-generation radio has reached the end of its reliable service life.
Solution
Step 1: Reset the Radio
- Locate the radio attached to the Laser Tracker.
- Power cycle the radio (turn it off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on).
- Wait for the connection to re-establish on the iPad.
- If the error clears and printing resumes, no further action is needed.
Step 2: Change to a New Channel (if reset didn't resolve it)
- On the iPad, navigate to the radio channel settings.
- Switch the radio and the FieldPrinter to the same new channel.
- Confirm the connection is re-established before resuming printing.
Step 3: Upgrade to the New Radio Model (if the error persists)
If the error continues after a reset and channel change, your radio is a first-generation model that should be replaced.
Contact your Dusty Robotics Customer Success Manager to arrange an upgrade to the new radio model. The new radio model resolves this issue.
