Overview
This article describes the physical components of the AT500 Leica Absolute Tracker. Familiarizing yourself with these parts will help you set up, operate, and maintain the instrument correctly.
Component Descriptions
a- Carry Handle
The carry handle is located at the top of the instrument. Use it to transport the AT500 safely. Always lift the instrument by the carry handle and ensure it is fully seated before moving.
b- Coaxial Optics
The coaxial optics assembly serves two purposes:
- Angle and distance measurement - integrates the optical path for precise ADM-based measurements
- Visible laser beam exit port - emits the visible pointer laser used for target alignment
c- IR Receiver
The infrared (IR) receiver accepts remote control signals. If you are using a wireless remote to operate the AT500, point the remote toward this receiver for reliable signal pickup.
d- PowerLock
PowerLock is the AT500's automatic target acquisition system. It continuously monitors for reflector targets and locks on automatically when one enters the beam path. Once locked, PowerLock tracks the target through movement.
e- Overview Camera
The overview camera provides a wide-angle video feed of the measurement environment. It is used for:
- Remote target selection
- Visual confirmation of measurement setup
- Assisted target search when PowerLock cannot acquire automatically
The camera is integrated into the telescope assembly and operates through the controlling software.
f- Circular Level (backside)
The circular level (bubble level) is located on the back of the instrument. Use it when setting up the AT500 to verify that the instrument is leveled on its tribrach or mounting surface. The instrument must be leveled within specification before measurements begin.
g- Connector Area
The connector area on the lower section of the instrument houses all external interface ports, including power and data connections.
h- Status LEDs
The status LEDs provide a real-time visual indication of the instrument's operating state, including boot status, target lock, measurement activity, and PowerLock state.
