Overview
The defining capability of the Laser Tracker is its PowerLock vision system, an off-axis camera integrated directly into the tracker head. At its core, PowerLock emits an invisible LED beam from the front of the telescope to detect and locate targets within its field of view.
When a target enters the sensor's field of view, the vision system detects it, calculates its angular offset from the laser axis, and autonomously steers the beam onto the retroreflector, all without operator input.
Field of View and Search Capability
The PowerLock vision system operates with a 10° field of view, giving it a wide enough capture window to locate a target that has been occluded and reintroduced, or one being carried by an operator who is still aligning to a measurement position. Once the target is detected within that window, the system transitions from search to track mode automatically.
