The Production Report is the page in the Dusty Portal that shows how much of a published layout has been printed. Use it to track print progress, see which FieldPrinter printed what, break progress down by trade and layer, and download the data as a PDF or CSV.
You'll find the Production Report under the Production tab of a layout. If you're new to the Portal, start with What Is the Dusty Portal?.
The header, Total to date, and filters
This top section tells you which layout you're looking at, the overall progress, and how to narrow the view.
What the progress is based on
The report measures printed progress against the layout you published — not the raw model. The line just under the "Production Report" heading tells you which published version you're looking at: "Progress displayed is based on the layout published: [date]." If you republish a layout, progress is lost and remeasured against the new published version.
Progress updates as the FieldPrinter uploads print data to the cloud. With a strong internet connection, the robot uploads data about once an hour, so the report may lag the floor by up to an hour or so. The Last print update timestamp (top right) shows when the most recent print data was received. If a robot has been printing with a weak or no connection, the report won't reflect that work until the FieldPrinter can upload again. Progress also shows under the specific layout that was printed — if a crew prints a different layout than the one you're viewing, that progress appears under that other layout, not this one.
Report header
The header identifies the layout and its print plan:
- Project and layout name — the project and the specific layout (e.g., "Level 11").
- Address — the jobsite location.
- Scheduled Print Dates — the planned print window for this layout.
- Estimated Total Print Days — the estimated number of print days to complete the layout.
- Download PDF / Download CSV — export the report (see Downloading the report below).
Total to date
The Total to date bar is your headline number: total objects printed versus total objects in the published layout, with the percentage complete. For example, 10,955 / 13,688 printed reads as 80% complete. The orange fill is the portion printed.
Filters
Use the filter row to narrow the entire report. Set your filters, then click Apply (or Reset to clear):
- Start Date & Time / End Date & Time — limit the report to a specific print window.
- FieldPrinters — show one specific robot or all robots. Useful when multiple FieldPrinters worked the same layout.
- Trade — focus on a single trade (Mechanical, Framing, and so on) or all trades.
Lines, Points, and Text
Dusty layouts are made of three kinds of objects, and each gets its own progress dial:
- Lines — wall lines, framing, and other linework, measured in linear feet.
- Points — individual points such as hangers or penetrations.
- Text — printed labels and text objects.
Each dial shows the overall percentage for that object type in the center. The outer ring breaks that progress down by FieldPrinter, so you can see how much each robot contributed — each robot has its own color in the legend below the dial. Below each dial you'll see the raw totals:
- Lines: Total Linear Feet Printed and Available (remaining).
- Points: Total Points Printed and Available.
- Text: Total Text Objects Printed and Available.
The calendar, Printing by Day, and Printing by Trade
This section shows print activity over time and broken down by trade.
Calendar
The calendar highlights the days the FieldPrinter printed on this layout (marked days). Use the arrows to move between months and pick a day to focus the view.
Printing by Day
The Printing by Day chart plots daily output, with separate bars for Lines (Linear Feet), Points, and Text. Use it to spot your strongest print days and any gaps where no printing happened.
Printing by Trade
Printing by Trade breaks progress down by trade so you can see where each discipline stands. Each row shows:

Printed Summary — printed versus total for that trade, listed for Lines, Points, and Text (whichever apply). For example,
575 / 659 Lines (Linear Feet). - Printed — a progress bar for the trade.
- Percent complete — on the right.
Click a trade to expand it into a Layer Name breakdown, showing the same printed-versus-total detail for each layer within that trade. This is how you find exactly which layers are lagging.
Unassigned is a category, not a trade: it collects objects on layers that don't have a trade assigned in the published file. Assigning trades to your layers during file prep keeps this category small and your report easy to read.
A trade or the Unassigned category can occasionally show more than 100% printed. This is expected — it means more content was printed than the published file contained for that category.
Layout View
Layout View at the bottom is a map of the layout plotted on X/Y coordinates, color-coded by object status and type. Use it to see where on the floor printing is complete versus outstanding, rather than just the totals. The legend defines each:
- Printed — objects that have been printed.
- Printable — objects in the layout that are printable but not yet printed.
- Measurement — measurement points (Point Elevation).
- Control — control (stationing) points.
- Obstacle — areas marked as obstacles.
- Reference — reference geometry such as grid lines, used for orientation but not printed.
Downloading the report (PDF and CSV)
Two export buttons sit at the top right:
- Download PDF — a formatted copy of the report for sharing or record-keeping.
- Download CSV — the underlying data as a spreadsheet.
The CSV reflects the print data reported by the FieldPrinter. Objects that were not printed may not appear in the CSV even though they're still visible in Layout View, so use Layout View (or the Printed Summary counts) to confirm what remains.
